The Changing Landscape of Millionaire Migration in 2025

This marks an unprecedented shift in global wealth dynamics, driven by the decline of several European powerhouses and the rise of more tax-friendly jurisdictions, particularly in the Middle East and Southern Europe.

The UK has seen a 9% decrease in its millionaire population since 2014, while the United States has experienced a remarkable 78% increase.

Factors like unfavorable tax regulations, stricter inheritance laws, and post-Brexit uncertainty are causing many to seek more welcoming environments.

Conversely, countries such as the United Arab Emirates (net gain of 9,800 millionaires), United States (+7,500), and Italy (+3,600) are thriving, thanks to attractive tax regimes and simplified residency options.

Thailand is emerging as a new haven in Southeast Asia, positioning itself as a rival to Singapore by attracting affluent individuals from China, Vietnam, and South Korea.

In Europe, the Montenegro is experiencing the highest growth in resident millionaires (+124%) due to its citizenship-by-investment program, while Malta (+87%) and Latvia (+70%) are also seeing significant increases.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is witnessing a resurgence with a net gain of 2,400 millionaires, driven by the return of its nationals and economic transformations.

In Latin America, the trend remains largely outward, with countries like Brazil (-1,200) and Colombia (-150) contributing to an exodus towards Florida, Portugal, and the Caribbean (Dominican Republic).

However, Costa Rica stands out with a net gain of 350, thanks to its reputation for stability and an attractive living environment.
